Celebrating 30 years of Aotearoa New Zealand being Nuclear Free
Nuclear Free: A National Identity
Exhibition and acknowledgement
In June 1987 the Nuclear Free Zone, Disarmament and Arms Control Act, the legislation making Aotearoa New Zealand a nuclear-free zone, was passed.
Devonport led the way in 1981 with a declaration by the Borough Council. Many other local councils followed that example.
Devonport was an appropriate place to celebrate this 30th anniversary, which has become an expression of our national identity.
Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) and the Devonport Peace Group were delighted to present an exhibition at The Depot Artspace, Devonport.
